UPPSC PCS

UPPSC PCS preparation, from the official record

The exam pattern read live from the commission's own notification, and real past-year papers from 2018 to 2025 mapped onto the official syllabus.

What the UPPSC PCS exam is

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission runs the Provincial Civil Services examination — commonly written UPPSC PCS, UP PCS or UPPCS — in three stages: a Preliminary paper set that screens, a descriptive Main examination that decides merit, and an interview. Only the Main examination and the interview carry marks into the final merit list; Prelims marks do not. That is why the Preliminary examination is best treated as a threshold to clear rather than a score to maximise.

The Main examination was restructured for 2023: the optional subject was abolished and two compulsory General Studies papers focused on Uttar Pradesh were added in its place. That is the largest change to this exam in a decade, and it means preparation built on pre-2023 advice is preparation for an exam that no longer exists. The pattern below is read from the commission's current notification rather than restated from memory.
